My father needs a bit of help but wants his own front door. Is Extra Care housing a better step up?

I think Extra Care could be a good middle ground if he still wants his own space but is starting to need a bit more help. He can have his own flat and front door, while having care and support available when he needs it.Sheltered housing is usually better suited to someone who is still fairly independent and mainly wants a bit of extra security and support. Extra Care makes more sense if he needs regular help now or might need more support as time goes on.
I’d visit a couple of places with him if possible. He might have a very different feeling about it once he sees how independent the residents actually are.
