Is it cheaper to have a carer live in the house 24/7 or to pay for a room in a mid range care home?

I don’t think there’s a simple answer because it depends on how much care the person actually needs. A live-in carer can make sense if staying at home is important, but the cost isn’t just the carer’s fee. You also have to think about accommodation, meals and what happens when the carer needs time off.
A care home has more of those things built into the overall arrangement, but you’re also giving up some of the independence and familiarity of staying at home.I’d compare the total monthly cost of both options based on the actual level of care needed. If possible, I’d get quotes from a couple of providers rather than comparing advertised prices.
